HAIYUL
Since the age of fourteen, Haiyul have always wanted to learn the drums. However, she was disheartened during the learning process that she stopped for a period of time before she redeveloped her interest when she joined Republic Polytechnic’s Percussion Ensemble, Beats Encore.
She realized and discovered that playing percussions with Brazilian instruments is way different than playing the drum set. Never did she knew she would fall in love with percussive music, beats and rhythm once again, especially the sound of the big bass drum. She began playing the surdo for Beats Encore, You Got Beats! Concert, her very first big performance and soon develop a “mutual relationship”, she might say.
Currently, a proud surdo player for Rhythm de Pasion.
