Sammie is one who views music as an essential element which instigates the “oomph” in people’s lives. She started out playing music with an Angklong ensemble at the age of 10. Ever since, she was determined to take on any role as long as it involves picking up a new skill on a different instrument. She joined her school’s symphonic band in 2003 and quickly got the hang of playing the euphonium (even though she got a huge crush and dream of playing in the percussions section). Her determination in learning this new instrument earned her a spot as a section leader in the band.
In the years that she was in Republic Polytechnic, Sammie took the opportunity to fulfil her failed attempt in playing the percussion in the school band. She became a member of Beats Encore and was pulled in to be part of the Rhythm’s family. She started out playing Chocalho with the band and then found her love for Surdos when she became a part Bloco Singapura.
Sammie believes that with the passion and the drive to learn, the band of brothers and sisters would push Rhythm De Pasion right up on the pedestal.
